Telegram – a new era of messaging
As the tagline suggests, telegram is the new era of messaging. It is an instant messaging app just like WhatsApp or Hike, which was launched on August 2013. Telegram focus on fast and securitയ്, but still, they have not compromised with it’s performance and features. Compared to any other messaging app, telegram is one of the fastest growing networks on instant messaging services. They have crossed 100 million active users in just two and a half years. Telegram was founded by Durov brother Nikolai Durov and Pavel Durov.
Telegram is free and it’s client side is open-source. Which means anyone can modify the api of telegram and you can add more and more features to it. Plus messenger, Mobogram etc are such modified apps with more features. Telegram uses distributed network which helps in increased speed and security. Telegram uses MTProto Protocol which was developed by one of the founders of telegram, Nikolai Durov. Telegram claims that their custom designed encryption protocol is not possible to break and they have openly challenged all hackers to breach their security. The first person who breaches the telegram encryptions will be awarded $200,000 (approx. ₹1 crore).
Cloud Features of Telegram App
Unlike most other instant messaging services like WhatsApp, Telegram uses cloud storage. That means all your chats and files will be stored on dedicated servers by telegram. Even if you lose a file from your device you can easily download it again from telegram cloud. Telegram provides you unlimited cloud storage. You can save as much files as you want in telegram servers. Telegram syncs across all your devices. You can access your messages from multiple devices. You can share any media or documents of a maximum size of 1.5GB through telegram. Telegram groups can accommodate a maximum of 10,000 members.
